As a Transgender Man and health care worker I understand what its like living with gender dysphoria. It can feel like walking through a fog with no clear path ahead. For many, the journey toward understanding and care is filled with uncertainty, frustration, and moments of hope. I want to share my story—not as a guide, but as a window into what one real path looked like. This series is for those just starting out, those supporting loved ones, and anyone already in care who feels stuck or overwhelmed by the slow pace of progress.
Looking back, I see how far I’ve come. The journey through gender dysphoria is challenging, but it also brings growth and self-discovery. If you are early in your journey or supporting someone who is, know that you are not alone. Real examples like mine show that progress is possible, even when it feels slow.
If you are already in care and feeling stuck, try to focus on small steps and celebrate your resilience. Keep reaching out for support and stay connected to communities that understand your experience.

Accessing transgender health care is often a slow and complicated process. I faced long wait times for appointments, confusing paperwork, and sometimes conflicting advice. It can feel exhausting, especially when you’re already dealing with emotional challenges.
Here are some practical tips that helped me:
Prepare for appointments by writing down questions and concerns. This helps make the most of limited time with healthcare providers.
Keep a journal of your feelings and physical changes. This can be useful for tracking progress and communicating with your care team.
Build a support network of friends, family, or support groups who understand your journey, and reach out to the organizations that exist to support you and your loved ones.
